ABOUT HEYBA
BUILT AROUND SURF. HELD TOGETHER BY PEOPLE.
HEYBA is a surf discovery collective based in Stockholm.
We organise small surf journeys to places outside the usual circuit, local gatherings closer to home, and whatever else gives us a good reason to get surfers together.
The surf gets us moving.
The people, places and stories around it are what make us want to come back.
IT STARTED IN GHANA.
In 2023, Pontus moved to Accra.
He started exploring the coast and found good waves, warm water, a small local surf scene and a side of Ghana he wanted his friends to experience.
A few years later, three friends came to visit.
Seven more surfers joined.
We surfed, travelled, met people and had such a good time that we decided to do it again.
That became HEYBA.
Wanting different

Local knowledge.
Enough of a plan to make things work, but enough freedom to follow the surf when it changes.
We want to work with the people who already live, surf and run businesses in the places we visit.
We don’t need to own the wave, the place or the story.
We just want to experience it well — and leave people with a reason to welcome us back.

We go further for experiences that mean something — not for status. We follow curiosity, waves and people into places worth getting to know. We travel to learn, be challenged, meet people properly, and come home with more than great photos.

Celebrate the wave. Claim the ride. Keep the moments that stay with you. But remember: we are guests. The coastline, culture and community were here long before us. We share the ocean with respect, appreciate what we’re invited into, and never treat someone else’s place as ours.

A good Heyba trip should make people want us back. We work with the people already building local surf culture, spend locally, listen first and grow responsibly. Every journey should strengthen relationships, respect the place and make sure the community hosting us benefits from having Heyba there.
